In early March 2025, the city of Bengaluru transformed into an open-air classroom. But this was no ordinary lesson, It was The great creator’s trail Bangaluru —a two-day learning experience that attempted to redefine how we talk about sustainability, storytelling, and social impact.

Organised jointly by the rebalance institute and LIT School, the great creator’s trail invited nearly 100 participants to embark on a fast-paced content hunt across the city. Their mission was simple: uncover inspiring stories of sustainability and bring them to life through short-form digital content - In a single day!

The Idea

Co-created by the rebalance institute and LIT School, the great creator’s trail was designed to do something most educational experiences don’t: make sustainability irresistibly engaging.

The challenge tapped into the storytelling power of the next generation—young people fluent in Instagram reels, YouTube shorts, and TikTok trends. Over the course of 48 hours, participants teamed up in small groups, connected with local changemakers, and turned their stories into impactful, under-2-minute videos.

Each changemaker was part of the bigger picture of sustainability—individuals or organisations working to make the world more socially inclusive and environmentally responsible. Participants were encouraged to think beyond climate change alone, engaging with themes like gender equity, circular economy, education access, water innovation, and much more.

The Event

The challenge began with a launch event at LIT School, where teams were briefed, matched with a changemaker, and sent out into the city with three hints to find their changemakers. Armed with cameras, questions, and open minds, they traversed Bengaluru's streets, meeting entrepreneurs, activists, farmers, innovators, and community leaders who are shaping a better tomorrow.

The hands-on format didn’t let anyone lose out or procrastinate, it made them move as well as was extremely educational. Participants learned how to conduct interviews, craft powerful narratives, and shoot and edit compelling video content—all while immersing themselves in the very real-world issues they were documenting.

By Day 2, teams submitted their final videos for review. These micro-documentaries were evaluated by a panel of expert jury members, who assessed not only the quality of the content but also the power of the story and the clarity of its message.

The evening concluded with a panel discussion featuring jury members and a special guest speaker, followed by a celebratory networking session supported by LIT students and local food sponsors.

Beyond the Event

While the Challenge lasted just two days, its impact reached far beyond the timeline. It offered a living example of what learning can look like when it’s rooted in purpose, driven by collaboration, and centered on real-world engagement.

For many participants, it wasn’t just a challenge—it was a door to a new perspective. A reminder that education doesn’t have to be passive and sustainability doesn’t have to be only about plants and plastics. Most importantly sustainability doesn’t have to be boring. And that powerful stories can—and should—be tools for change.

Looking Ahead

The rebalance institute and LIT School see this challenge model as a replicable, scalable format for future experiences. By combining the thrill of a scavenger hunt with learning, the initiative proved that it’s possible to teach complex issues in joyful, unforgettable ways.

If you're a university, youth collective, or organisation interested in bringing a similar experience to your city or campus, the rebalance institute welcomes collaboration. Together, we can train the next generation of creators to become catalysts for a better world.
